HP Photosmart Premium TouchSmart Web All-in-One Printer
Customer Rating (3.5/5)
I had a Brother Fax/Printer that I loved and had no problems with but wanted to upgrade my capabilities with a scanner since the bank that I bank with allows me to scan deposit checks into my account, as well as, be able to scan documents into my computer to email as an attachment. I’ve owned 3 HP printers before so it just came naturally to me to check out and see what HP had to offer.
When I did the search, I found the printer/scanner/copier and almost ordered that one when I realized it didn’t have a fax. So I continued to search and then found this wonderful machine that would print, scan, copy and fax; and on top of that had the nice little wireless features that allow you to do things on the machine without needing or accessing your computer. I was blown away! Then I read the reviews and couldn’t believe some of them. Since I saw more positive reviews than negative I decided to take the dive and order the machine.
Upon recieving it I was very impressed with the packaging as well as the appearance of the machine itself. Setting it up was an EASE! I had read a lot of reviews that said it was hard to setup, that the wireless function didn’t work properly, that the ink was difficult to load; all kinds of problems with getting the machine up and working. Now, I have to say, I’m no rocket scientist or computer genius, but I had my machine out of the package, on it’s little desk, inked up, “hooked” into my network via my wireless router and made the default printer on my computer with 45 minutes! And then I began to play with all the little gadget features that you can do on it without “accessing” your computer.
The only correct negative thing that I found that I had read in the reviews, and it really isn’t that much of a negative, is that the ink cartridges that come with the machine don’t last that long. This wasn’t really an issue with me because I get my ink from Costco in bulk at a savings compared to other places. To date I still have not had to replace any one cartridge, but it did tell me I was low on ink in one of them. I say just use them up and then get the X-large replacements. I don’t really do any photo printing so if you do, your initial photo cartridges may run out sooner.
I was extremely happy and overjoyed with this machine until it came time to fax a multi-page document
This is when I realized it’s shortcomings. I HAD TO PLACE EACH PAGE ON THE SCANNER SURFACE ONE AT A TIME like back in the good old days when scanners and fax machines first came out. And what made it bad, each page was it’s own document. In other words, after scanning each page, I had to send each page as a separate document instead of the document being a multi-paged one. The same thing with faxing.
If you don’t plan on using the machine for multi-page use on a continuous basis, THIS IS THE MACHINE FOR YOU!!! What I am going to do is return this machine and get the one that has the document feeder. SO WATCH FOR IT TO COME BACK AND GET IT AT A CHEAPER PRICE! LOL!
But seriously, this is a good machine. All the bad reviews were a bunch of crap! The only reason I’m returning the machine is because I have to have something that has a document feeder because I have to have the ability to fax and scan multiple page documents. I have my own business I operate out of my home so I need that capability….once again, not to beat a dead horse, but if I didn’t need the multi-page function, I’d be keeping this machine. I was totally happy with everything else it did and had not problems with it whatsoever! SO DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE IN THE BAD REVIEWS! Thank you.
